OUR HUMBLE BACKSTORY

Adam Thomas and Phil Read grew up 2 miles away and 20 years apart from each other in Gumlog, a small town in northeast Georgia. It's a beautiful, wooded and rolling landscape full of small farms, tall pines and deep mountain lakes. Narrow roads connect small towns and families that depend on each other. Back then there was no such thing as Linkedin. But it didn't matter: your reputation was your bond.

Although Adam and Phil now live in Charlotte, North Carolina, the small-town lessons they learned are as relevant as ever. Small towns don't mean less quality of life and small teams don't mean less quality of work. Having worked on some of the largest and most complex projects in the world, they've come to realize that every project is really just made up of small teams. And with the growth of the internet and BIM, a lot of work is being done in small towns.
